- Jill brings a love of leadership in both secular organizations and the faith community. She has a wide perspective, having served both on staff and on boards of non-profits, as lay leadership, as ordained clergy within the faith community, and as a recognized voice for inclusion and advocacy.
- David is a recognized authority on navigating challenges, crises, and change across a wide range of businesses, nonprofits, foundations, and associations. David is an experienced executive coach for leaders of business, foundations, and associations and has served as a facilitator for a wide range of high-level meetings.

Meeting Guidelines
VOE follows the Chatham House Rule that helps create a trusted environment and encourages inclusive and open dialog in during online meetings.
The rule is named after the headquarters of the UK Royal Institute of International Affairs, based in Chatham House, London, where the rule originated in June 1927. The rule was refined in 1992 and 2002 and states:
When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.
Meet Your Cohort Facilitators
David Kushner
David is the founder and president of David Kushner Consulting, LLC, where he serves as a strategic consultant and advisor to CEOs, senior executives and governing boards in the nonprofit, philanthropic and corporate sectors. Prior to starting this international business consulting practice, David served as CEO or executive management for professional membership or trade associations, and foundations, achieving both the Certified Association Executive and Certified Meeting Professional designations. He has also served as a strategic advisor and COO for an international engineering company.
David specializes in guiding leaders and organizations with strategic assessments, enhancement of organizational governance, complex mergers and acquisitions, operational reviews, and re-organizations. In addition, for more than a decade he has been an executive coach for CEOs and senior managers, advising them on issues leaders face in changing environments. A well-respected presenter and author, David’s topical knowledge is extensive. For more than 40 years, David has also helped organizations by serving as an active board member and officer for several national organizations.
A respected strategic advisor to senior management and governing boards, David is regarded as a highly successful facilitator, including extensive experience working with physicians and healthcare organizations. He founded The Nonprofit Executive Forum, a series of senior management level discussion sessions for association and foundation leaders, a precursor to the Voices of Experience project.
Rev. Dr. Jill McCrory
Jill also has over 30 years’ experience in the areas of leadership development and strategic thinking. She has facilitated leadership training, board orientation, and strategic planning for hundreds of non-profit and faith organizations. She is an advocate for proactive change, strength-based strategic thinking, and challenging the status quo. She has served on both the staff side of non-profit organizations as well as board member and leadership roles.
Jill has been on the forefront of advocacy, social justice, and leadership within both the Baptist and Metropolitan Community Church traditions. She is ordained Baptist clergy and is aligned with both the Alliance of Baptists and the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists. Jill is passionate about social justice and community ministry. She has served as senior pastor, intentional interim, and crisis pastor and has led two churches through the process of closure. She has a MDiv from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies and a DMin in church leadership from Wesley Theological Seminary.
Paul Troxell
Paul has over thirty-plus years of experience as an entrepreneur, with a diverse commercial and biotech background encompassing business management, retail, contract management, facilities, and procurement. Through active listening and collaboration, Paul provides actionable and sustainable frameworks for developing next generation managers. With a focus on groundbreaking neuroscience research and evidence based behavioral practices, he empowers others in developing a change mindset, increasing individual motivation, and driving behavioral change.
Paul has extensive customer focused business experience as the owner of a retail business, a restaurant and a successful bed and breakfast and work in a bio research company. He has many years of in-depth work on multimillion-dollar global meeting contracts, securing insurance coverages for a range of business issues as well as overseeing organizational operational matters for an international scientific membership organization.
